Evolution

The red lizards of Arizona love the hot weather and enjoy small insects that they find running along the ground.  The red lizards can come in two different varieties, short legs and long legs.  Which variety of the red lizard is better equipped for survival in this environment? Why?

  1. The long legs will help it survive longer because the legs help it move a lot faster than short legs

  2. Longer legged one because it can have a bigger stride/steps to run farther and beat out the predator trying to get it.

  3. The one with long legs would survive much more because it would be able to move faster and get to shelter fast as if the one with short legs would not be able to move as quick.

  4. Short legs cause if they have short legs they can get around faster.

  6. The lizard with the longer legs would be most likely to survive because of the hot weather the longer you stay out you run the risk of cooking yourself alive. The shorter legged lizard will become extinct because of the shorter legs, with shorter legs it makes the traveling of the lizard slower because he could stay in the sun too long.

  8. The red lizards should have short legs because they can survive longer because the red lizards have short legs so they can hide under things much better then long legs. If the red lizards have long legs they would not survive as long because can cant really hide under things like the short leg lizards can.

  11. The variety of the red lizard that is better equipped for survival in that environment would be the long legs because that gives the lizard of an advantage of finding more food and surviving easily while running along the ground to find insects to eat while the short legged lizard would probably have trouble catching the insects with the smaller size of his legs.

  12. The reason why the RED lizards the short legs will run faster and the longer legs could just leap a little bit further that's why short legs could be a better variety of species.
